Attention Rider University Students and Staff: Winter Storm Impact and Important Updates
A Winter Storm's Impact on Campus Life
As the winter storm approaches, Rider University is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its community. Here's a comprehensive update on what to expect and how to prepare:
Campus Closure and Class Schedule Adjustments
Monday, January 26, 2026: The university will be closed due to the winter storm. Classes will not be held, and only essential employees are required to report to work. These employees will be notified by their supervisors.
Spring Semester Start: Classes for the spring semester will commence on Tuesday, January 27, and will be conducted remotely. This decision was made due to the uncertainty surrounding the storm's impact. Classes will resume their normal schedule on Wednesday, January 28.
Remote Work Option: Employees are encouraged to work remotely on Tuesday, January 27, if possible, except for AFSCME personnel. Only essential employees need to be physically present and will be informed by their supervisors.
Residence Hall Move-In Information
Recommended Move-In Date: Students are strongly advised to delay moving into their residence halls until Tuesday, January 27, between noon and 7 p.m. This timing allows for a smooth transition and avoids potential disruptions caused by the storm.
Alternative Move-In Option: For those unable to move in on the recommended date, an alternative opportunity will be available on Saturday, January 24, between noon and 7 p.m. Please check your Rider email for further details.
Dining Services Adjustments
During this period, dining services will operate on a modified schedule to accommodate the changing circumstances:
Daly Dining Hall: Open on Saturday, January 24, Sunday, January 25, and Monday, January 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Wendy's: Serving from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, only.
The Market: Open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, exclusively.
