Imagine buying a house without ever stepping inside, only to uncover a hidden gem! That's exactly what happened to a Welsh couple, Ryan Knight and Jen Peters-McKnight, who took a leap of faith and purchased a derelict property on a whim. But here's where it gets controversial... they didn't even know what they were getting into!
This story has gone viral, with over two million views in just six days, as the couple documents their renovation journey on social media. It's a tale of adventure, surprise, and a whole lot of junk!
Ryan and Jen, both 47, were searching for a renovation project when they stumbled upon a pink-hued 1970s house at a property auction. Despite its rundown appearance, they were drawn to its unique features and fabulous location, surrounded by beautiful woodland and streams.
"We couldn't get inside, but we knew we had to take a chance," Jen explained. "The location was just too good to pass up."
And take a chance they did! Their "cheeky bid" was accepted, and they became the proud owners of the Pink House, a name that stuck immediately.
When they finally entered the house, they were met with a mountain of junk. "It was like a hoarder's paradise!" Jen exclaimed. "We had no idea the previous owners had an issue, but there was stuff everywhere."
Among the piles of rubbish, they discovered brand-new items still in their packaging, indicating that the owners had good intentions but never got around to sorting through their belongings.
The couple's first task was to clear a path through the debris, battling giant spiders along the way. As they ventured further, they realized the house was much bigger than it seemed from the outside, with almost 3,000 square feet of floor space and a unique Spanish-inspired design.
"It's like a hidden palace!" Ryan exclaimed in one of his update videos. "We've got four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and an atrium that's just stunning."
But the surprises didn't end there. As they continued their renovation, they uncovered more hidden gems, like large arched windows and a beautiful cloakroom near the entrance.
"We're so excited about this project," Jen said. "It's a massive challenge, but we're determined to bring this house back to its former glory."
And the world is watching! Jen's social media following has skyrocketed, with people from all over curious about this unique renovation story. "We've even had people asking if we're in Ireland!"
The couple plans to move in fully within a year, and they're determined to make their dream a reality. "It's a big leap, but we're ready for it," Jen added.
